The Purpose of the CleanBC Plastics Action Fund
Working towards recovery and a more resilient economy, the CleanBC Plastics Action Fund (formerly known as the Recycled Plastics Manufacturing Stimulus or RPMS Fund) will engage BC-based innovators, companies, or projects to address the issue of plastic pollution.
Reducing virgin plastics in manufacturing by establishing better uses for post-consumer recycled plastics ensures that the materials and resources that already exist have a longer lifecycle.
The fund will also work towards establishing benefits for women, youth, and/or Indigenous people by creating employment opportunities and supporting community-based initiatives.
The CleanBC Plastics Action Fund will enable the administrative team to select a number of plastics recycling projects, community initiatives, or companies in the field to support over the next year.
In order to be eligible for funding, projects should achieve at least one of the following outcomes when it comes to post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics:
increase BC’s processing capacity to supply more PCR plastics to product and packaging manufacturers
increase the use of PCR plastics in manufacturing
support PCR plastics product research, design, and testing, including trials that have the potential to increase the use of PCR plastic
must be BC-based
must be completed by December 31, 2021
applicants commit to providing one third of eligible project costs, which cannot come from other provincial or federal government funds or sources
